Leov zapis ('Leo's account') is the third and final part of a translation project that ZRC SAZU has undertaken to present the story of a group of Jewish children who, during their long flight from the terror of Nazism and Fascism, also spent a year in Lesno Brdo near Ljubljana. In 2018, a translation of Joškovi otroci ('Joško's Children'), the testimony of Josef (Joško) Indig (1917–1998), who was entrusted with the care of these children, was published. Last year, this was followed by the publication of Sonjin dnevnik ('Sonja's Diary'), a work that Sonja Borus (1927–), one of the girls in the group, began writing at the age of 14 in Lesno Brdo. The last testimony of this trilogy translated into Slovenian, Leo's account, was written by Leo Koffler (1925–2006), one of the older boys who accompanied the group for most of the time, and who described the events of the group’s difficult, extremely uncertain journey in 1944, after he had finally managed to reach his destination in Palestine.
