The Terminological Dictionary of Stonemasonry is the first Slovenian terminological dictionary containing terms from the subject field of stonemasonry and their definitions. It covers the subfields of extraction, processing, installation and maintenance of natural stone. It also includes research, planning and design with natural stone, as well as restoration and conservation of stone heritage, especially architectural heritage. It contains 1,516 terms that are defined or guide the user of the dictionary to a preferred term. One of the objectives of the dictionary is to provide recommendations for the use of terminology, which contributes to the harmonisation of terminology in the subject field. The dictionary entries are supplemented by drawings and photographs made especially for this dictionary. Five field experts and two terminologists have collaborated on this dictionary. It is intended primarily for experts in the subject field of stonemasonry and related disciplines such as geology, architecture, construction, sculpture, art history. The use of the dictionary requires a certain level of expertise, but it can also be profitably used by anyone who needs professionally reliable information about the terminology of this subject field.
