The Bibliography of France Balantič is a fundamental study of the work and reception of this poet in Slovenian literature, culture and society. Apart from Prešeren's bibliography (1975), it is the only complete bibliographical overview of a Slovenian writer to date. The 2.969 entries in Balantič's bibliography cover the period from the poet's first publications to 2017; the overview includes all bibliographical genres from Balantič's manuscripts and first publications to critical reviews, literary reception, journalistic references, recitations at literary evenings and commemorative events, translations into foreign languages, radio and television presentations, settings of Balantič's poems and depictions of Balantič in works of art – all of which were found by the authors of the Bibliography in various collections in Slovenia, in Slovenian regions beyond its borders and around the world. Although there is not a single verse in Balantič's poetry that reflects a cultural-political or ideological commitment, the literary life of his poetry was suppressed under the communist regime. The bibliography impressively documents how, despite all obstacles, the quiet voice of this poet's lyrical poetry reached its readers and listeners and penetrated their hearts in Slovenia and on all continents.
